Friday, May 23, 2008The end of a few things...So my photography class ended this week. It was interesting, but I think I could get more from the web. It was really neat though to see so many people enjoyng taking pictures. Which is my goal this week, to post the pictures that I took throughout the class. Mia's last day in preschool 3 was completed yesterday. The morning was filled with songs, a clown, lunch and ice cream. The kids got their bags full of paperwork and an invite to next year's program. I really need to find a place closer to me for her next year. I hear we do not hear about UPK until August and that stresses me out. So Bill told Mia after her moving up day thing we would stop at the store and pick out a gift for her. So we went to Toys R Us. Mind you all, I am the one who likes to keep the family on a budget. Bill, on the other hand would spend every penny he has on electronics or tools. So we go into Toys R Us and I am trying to sway Mia towards some big girl roller blades (mainly because I want her to have them and they are $19.99) but she says she wants a doll crib, so I find a nice wooden one for $20. Bill brings over this mega changing table and crib combo for $40. OK, whatever. Until she eyes the bike section. Now, Mia's birthday is the first week of July and she has a great little bike that she rides now. I do realize that she needs a new bike before next year, but again, her birthday is in a month. So 15 minutes and puppy dog eyes later, we are walking out of the store with an $80 16 inch Barbie bike. Did I tell you all that she finished preschool, like 3 year old nursery school? We're not talking about a huge event here. Walking out of the store, Bill says to Mia, "Don't think you will be getting a car on your 16th birthday either." Yeah, right. Wednesday, May 21, 2008WednesdayYeah Mia! Last day of preschool 3s is tomorrow. Bill took off of work and we are having lunch with her at school. I am still juts waiting to hear from UPK about her status there so I can proceed in finding if I should be looking for a backup. I still want to tour the school though. Bailey sent home an invite for Bill and I yesterday for his Family Fun Day. It's basically a day that is spent with the kids and just them in school as siblings or other family members are not invited. We were thinking about taking the kids camping this summer. I believe this will stay only in the thinking stage. It's not that I don't want my kids to experience camping, but I think it's dirty and too much for a weekend away. I mean, all that packing to sleep in a cabin and probably not get any sleep because you are in the middle of the woods? Nope, I think a nice hotel would be a better camping trip for me. We are also planning a trip to visit Bill's father for a weekend this summer and then we are going to Disney in September. I would like to schedule a few weekend adventures in there, but it looks like are weekends are slowly becoming booked. I think I have something going on every weekend until August. Now I just have to work at the workweek days. Bailey's soccer end before the summer, and they both had such a great time last year, I need to sign the, up again somewhere. Lancaster doesn't offer soccer through the town during the summer. Monday, May 19, 2008It's a cold...I think the inevitable happens with the dramatic weather changes we have here in Buffalo. We all have colds. At first, I believed them to be allergies, well maybe in the kids. But now, I have the sniffles and I just want to sleep all day. It doesn't help either that it's 5am and I am working as well. We are still in a very busy season and have been moving non-stop at so many things. Last night, in between watching Desperate Housewives and Keeping up with the Kardashians, Bill and I put privacy window film on our sidelights on the front door. Now, who ever thought of putting these silly things on front doors is just insane. Do you know many people come to the front door and actually look through them into my house? So I had decided enough was enough. And instead of a entire door replacement, we went with these covers. They are actually pretty nice and very easy to put up. We also put mulch in the playground area in our yard this weekend. We went with the black/dark brown color and I like it a lot. It took about 30 bags to fill the area. My neighborhood book club met this past week and the newest book decided was The Pilot's Wife. Guess I need to head to Border's today. We have read some interesting books, but many not books that I would have normally read had I not been in book club. Sunday, May 11, 2008Happy Mother's DayFirst of all, Happy Mother's Day to every mother out there who reads this blog. May you have a little rest and relaxation on this day in honor of you all. My Mother's Day started with a little work. Yes, I had to answer phone calls for flowers this morning, but these are not just ordinary phone calls, these are the screaming, yelling phone calls and disappointed customers that have yet to receive their arrangements. Lucky me. But, Bill let me take a bath after work and my children gave me my M-day gifts. We were up late last night at a wedding for Bill's cousin Danny. Congratulations, Danny and Jackie! And congrats to Beth and Ang as they found out they are expecting a little girl. ( I believe it's always more fun to find out beforehand too) We are having a whirlwind month as the kids finish up gymnastics on monday and are getting ready for the end of the year. Bill's construction of the treefort/swingset was so good that we had a resident. a male and a female robin decided to build their nest in the top inside corner of the treehouse. I was a little nervous about moving it, especially if there were eggs in it or anything, but it really couldn't have stayed there. The kids are constantly up there. So Bill moved it and put it in the tree. Now it remains abandoned. At least there were no eggs in it. Bailey has a loose tooth. Or, at least, he thinks he has a loose tooth. I can't feel it, but he assures me everyday that it is going to be falling out soon. |
