Preview night

We met with the builders last night to discuss our options. Holy cow am I in trouble! I am not a great decision maker as it is and to put me in front of 10 different cbinet choices and pick one is going to be hard. Thank goodness we just had to tour last night and won't have to pick anything until next week!

Quick house update

Well, Max is gone. I hear he is doing rather well. I will probably call tomorrow and check more on him and his new friend, Storm. The kids only asked about him a few times.
On house news, we got a phone call that the tree guy was preparing to clear our lot so we had to come there and pick the trees we wanted to keep. Aside from seeing an old friend from high school (who will live directly across the street) we got to meet our neighbors to the right who were also there saving the trees. I can't believe how quickly things are going!

Our update

We have so much stuff going on and coming up that I am in a constant state of "I need a vacation." We just found out that the couple that bought our house probably won't let us rent for 2 months until our house is built, so I now have to look for an apartment. We want something reasonable so we can save a few bucks but something that will a) let us have animals and b) not have a lease.
Speaking of animals, it is going to be a sad day in the Powers house come Saturday as we bid a fond farewell to our little Max. Bill and I have spent days talking with the kids and decided that it will just be too much to take both of the dogs with us on the move. We won't have a fence right away at the new, an apartment is hard enough to find with just the 4 of us, and we are constantly taking weekend trips or vacations that require kenneling 2 dogs which equal a lot of money. My friend Rachael, who has been looking for a companion dog for her current, jumped on the opportunity to take our little pup. So the exchange will be on Saturday.
I also have become addicted to a few blogs that I recently found. One is goodyblog.com and the other is designmom.com They have really interesting stuff on them. The sites are colorful and eyecatching too! I get sucked into them at night.
This Wednesday we need to go and meet the design team at Marrano. I think we need to know the color of the outside of our house by then. I am already stressed. And the following Monday is our 3.5 hour extravaganza at the builder's office picking out the details of our home. I am already having nightmares trying to pick out "this cabinet or this one", "this doorknob or this one." For God sakes, you should have seen me trying to pick out the molding for our house when we signed the papers. We could choose stained or white. And I seriously could not decide. This is going to be an interesting day. I am sure to keep you all updated.
Bailey graduates from pre-k on Memorial day weekend. He is such a big boy. I can't believe he is a kindergartner (almost). They are both signed up for soccer this summer, Bailey on a team and Mia doing the start smart program.
will post more soon

Building

So yes, we are officially building a home. Our current house is all sold and we have a closing set for the end of May and our new house will be finished in the middle of August. I registered Bailey at thew new elemetary school today and I think we should be okay with the move. Next week is when we have the 4 hour session at the builders to pick our EVERYTHING that goes into a new house (down to the doorknobs) so we have a lot to do. I will probably be frazzled that day. Will keep everyone posted on the progress. So far they told us it will take about 5weeks untilt he hole is dug, so for now, the only picture is of the empty lot.

Going, going,, Gone! (Finally)

Bill and I have sold the house! Now, pending the inspection and closing, all is done. Yeah!!! Now let's start thinking about the new house. We have been talking about building a new home. Actually we have had a lot on hold in a Marano developement in Lancaster for 2 months now. It's around 2300 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Of course, we are keeping our options open for right now, as there may be an already built house out there that we may love as well.
So if we decide to build and close on this house, we will be looking at a 2 month gap in housing. My parents have GENEROUSLY offered their house for us to reside, but with 4 adults, 2 kids and 3 dogs, it may be a little too much, but that's not to say we have totally discredited that option. We will cross that bridge in a month or so.
So it's sunday and the house is sold and my parents have cooked a thanksgiving meal for dinner instead of the typical sauce. So now that we are having a bit of luck, maybe I will try my hand at the family card game tonight and come home a winner (hasn't happen yet.)
