Valentine’s Day

So we had a fab valentine’s day here.  Bill bought Mia and I flowers.  And we gave our traditional chocolate hearts with their names on it to the kiddos.  Bailey is way too cool to be bringing in valentine’s day cards to his friends, so opted for a nameless pack of fun dip for his classmates.  With Mia, we made homemade hot cocoa on a stick.  I wanted to make this at Christmas time, but never got around to it.  So I found so rubber heart shaped ice cube molds and got to work.  I also found heart shaped marshmallows and loved the idea!  So here are some pictures of that project.

Homemade Christmas gift

So I sent a little Christmas gift to our nephews who live away in North Carolina this past Christmas.  I found it online and decided to try it out myself.  They are the perfect ages for Family Memory Game.  And I found it here on one of my favorite blogs, Eighteen25

And here are the directions…

And what the cards looked like from the picture side.

What the heck happened????

See I couldn’t even keep up with my resolutions for the month of January and keep updating the blog.  I will be better, I promise.  I will try.  I could say I have been busy with stuff, but that would be a lie.  Every time I sit down at the computer I get sucked into a little game called Candy Crush Saga.

I swear, if this is what a crack addict feels like, it is bad.  I have worked it so I can have Bill logged in on his ipad, me logged in on the ipad, and then me logged in on the computer.  Don’t try it, unless you want to spend mindless hours on the computer…

I have been sending out the resume for like months now and nothing.  Can I still sat that I will find the perfect job out there somewhere?  It’s getting a little daunting.

Bailey started fencing, Mia lacrosse and basketball.  We are now members of the new Y that opened.  We are just busy.

I promise to update again this week.  Maybe something interesting will keep me logged in (that is if I can pull myself from Candy Crush Saga)

Happy New Year

Welcome, welcome 2013!  I hope all of you had a fantastic 2012!  WE decided this year to ring in the New Year at home.  At first we thought about heading downtown and watching the ball drop, but it was too cold.  Then we thought about going out for a nice dinner, but decided the it was too crowded everywhere.  So we settled on fondue and games at home.  We made cheese and chocolate fondues and all their fixings.  Good stuff!  I kicked a few asses in the games department and then we all went to bed very shortly after midnight.

So New Year’s resolutions?  I would like to say I have a few, but I don’t really think I will stick to them.  Maybe if I write them down here I will be more apt to stick with them.  1- I need to take more pictures and thus learn to better use my camera.  2 – I need to exercise more, but I guess with me signing up for the relay in the Buffalo Marathon in May and joining the Y, I really better get moving on that one.  3 – I need to find a job and hopefully one that I love.  4 – I need to get better at organization and keeping the house cleaner.  5 – Update this blog more and maybe have more people reading it.  Alright that’s it, I don’t want to go overboard.

I found a link for the kids to write a little something on what they were going to resolve to do.  Took their picture and all, but Bailey’s picture came out so I can see it, and Mia’s not so much.  (hence the get better at picture taking resolution).  But here they are anyways…

I think it’s totally fun that they both put down lessons that they learned as a school lesson, not a life lesson.  Found this on a website called 30 handmade days.  Awesome!  Hope I can remember to do it again next year.  Happy new year!

Christmas Lights

So Bill has put up the Christmas lights again.  He said it probably takes him 50+hours of work to get it all done.  Stop by and see it sometime.  There was a great write up about the light show on Buffalo.com but for now here is a link to one of the songs to the show…

Christmas Cards?

Would I be the worst person in the world if I forget about Christmas cards this year?  In my head, I have the perfect card formulated.  I bought the stamps.  Does that count?  Can I send an e-card?  I usually do the picture card, but can’t seem to get the time to take the picture.  Are New Year’s cards tacky?  AAAAAAHHHHHH!  2 weeks left to go and I am a procrastinator.

Sweater Day at Old Navy!!!

Last week, my friend, Julie, and I headed over to our local Old Navy store on a mission – to find our favorite sweater.  And what was even more fantastic about this sweater?  It was FREE!!!!  Julie and I are members of CrowdTap and are on the Old Navy Style Council.  This time we were assigned the difficult task of choosing from ON’s new sweaters for the season.  I am a cardigan girl through and through and knew what I was heading for.  Julie had been eyeing a sweater for a while and decided that was her find of the day.  Old Navy’s sweaters are AWESOME!  With so many to choose from, there is always a style and look to turn to there.  So head on over to Old Navy for your holiday sweater – or your new favorite sweater as I like to call mine…

New camera lens

I got a new lens for my camera.  The 55mm f/1.8 one.  I have to say, I am completely stupid in the camera field.  How many camera courses do I have to take to get this thing down pat?  Bill has shown me what he thinks is the way to set it.  But I am still at a loss.  It does take pretty pictures though.

So I knocked off a few people on my list, teachers, bus drivers, MIL..  But that is it.  I think I need a big bottle of wine to make it through the holidays!  This is a stressful time of year for me.  And everyone who thinks it’s the greatest time of the year is just saying that to convince themselves.  Sure, I like the music and the decorations, but when it comes down to it, it is one big stress filled month!  Merry December!  Maybe this should be my advent calendar…

Christmas Shopping

Ugh!  It’s that time of year again when people act all crazy.  I ask the kids for their christmas lists, they can’t even make one.  Why?  Because they are spoiled!  I need to tone down Christmas a little and make it more about the giving than receiving.  But it is a little hard when you are trying to keep up with the Joneses.  And I really try not to, but I need my kids to have stuff that they want to play with their friends with too.  How much fun is it if you go by Sebastian’s house to play Spiderman XBOX and then come to our house ans do it too?  So I need to find different things.  I am just not in the Christmas mood yet.  I guess it’s because I have been pummeled with Christmas already for a month and haven’t bought like 1 gift yet.  See this is why I take the tree down the day after Christmas, it’s like a never-freaking-ending season…

That being said, my house looks like Christmas threw up on it.  We do a little Christmas lights show on our house.  The mastermind of my husband.  He strings all sorts of crazy things together.  Spends hours hanging them up, hours cursing up a storm, hours programming songs for the blinking lights and then hours stressing how much more he has left to do.  But if he considers this fun, so do I, and I think the neighborhood appreciates it.  So stop on by and see the lights this year.  Or at least like us on our facebook page and read all about it…
