It’s July!!!!

Yeah!  It’s July.  And summer has officially begun.  We are spending our hot days in the sprinkler or and mom and dad’s pool and just relaxing.  The kids are loving just being off from school.  Bailey got his annual summer buzz cut and Mia is insisting on growing out her hair to her butt.  We’ll see how long that lasts.  Bill is back to running and completed a 10k over the 4th of July weekend.  My gym thankfully started their spinning classes, so I have been starting those.  We have been busy, but I will keep updating.  Happy July!!!

Why I haven’t posted

I am waiting for Bill to teach me how to upload pictures to this website.  I know there has go tot be an easy way to do it, but his way involves like 18 steps and I am in no mood to follow them.  I have pictures I want to post.  I think blog posts are better with pictures.  So until I get a simple 3 step process on how to upload a picture I have a feeling that my blog will be very bleak!  Summer is here!!!!!  Yeah!  Vacation has started!

Hello nice weather

And so the nice weather has finally hit us around here.  This year I am trying something new, a vegetable garden.  Now my father has had one forever, but I am going to grow myself some stuff this year.  Hopefully we will see something sprouting soon.  I will of course take a picture or two as it grows.  A poor excuse as always, but I have been horrendously busy here.  I found myself with 2 temporary jobs and loads of end of the year school b.s.  so I am consistently busy (add onto that shopping and lunch with Julie and we have an action packed week.  Oh and I joined a gym.

iCarly

I honestly thought I was doing a better job keeping up on this blog than I really am.  But we have been really busy around here, so I guess I will use that as an excuse again.   I am working my Spanish teaching gig after school again, along with volunteering, all the holidays and birthdays and also I just started a second job of scoring tests.  So all that and I am a little busy.  The kids got a special surprise yesterday as they got to meet their favorite tv star, Miranda Cosgrove.  Now if you are not familiar with the Nickelodeon shows, she stars on iCarly and the kids are obsessed with it.  Mia has a backpack, a purse, a wallet, pjs, shirts, jewelery and more dedicated to this girl.  The crowd was wild.  A special thank you to that special someone who hooked us up with a little picture and meet and greet action.  (KK, the kids can’t thank you enough)  So what did I think?  I don’t think I would ever want to be a celebrity, alright maybe the fame and fortune that comes with it, but the mobs of people we insane.  She looked a little pale and I think it would suck to have a smile pasted on your face for like a million hours while random people come up to you bearing gifts and asking for pictures.  But she was great, kind and very gracious to everyone.  Thanks again!

Farewell Playoff Beard

I’m not saying that the Sabres are out of it, Yet.  I am merely stating that we are no longer dealing with the dreaded playoff beard.  I believe last year we had to sit a lot longer with it.  But this year because a) the Sabres are close to losing this series and b) Bill has a presentation to make in NYC next week,  the beard has been shaven.  We are all a little happier it’s gone over here.

Spring Carnival

Picture about 400 elementary students packed about 100 at a time into the gym for an hour at a time.  Today was Spring Carnival Day at school!  Yippppeeee.  I was assigned my volunteer requested job of popcorn preparer along with my friend, Julie.  So picture little centers of carnival games, tattoos, prizes and of course popcorn.  The big hit of the event.  We knew what we were in for, I mean I have done it for the past 2 years, but this year was a little different.  Instead of allowing us a little break to regroup after each grade level, the kids poured in.  And no, there is NO limit to the amount of bags of popcorn one of these kids can take.  And let me tell you I am not keeping track that this girl just lifted her 7th bag from the table.  Julie was being burnt by kernels flying through the air.  I was giving kids the stink eye as they were asking me to hurry it up.  wow.  It was a crazy day.  All in all a happy day had by all, but I’ve had enough popcorn for the day…

Wacky Wednesday

Another busy week in the Powers household.  We have lots of activities at school keeping all of us busy.  Today is Mia’s spring party (this is in lieu of an Easter party).  The kids are on spring break next week and we are all really happy to have a week off.  I am already planning things to do to keep them busy.  Let’s just hope that the weather cooperates.  We have been having nice weather here in Buffalo, so let’s hope it continues.

We just got a load of dirt dumped today and Bill will be starting the landscaping.  I say this with hesitation because I am a little unsure of the fact that he is doing this himself.  But the dirt is here and we will begin yet another project.

Congratulations goes out to Mary and Joel as the news was announced a little baby will be entering the family come fall.  The kids love having cousins to play with.

Tuesday Training

Ok, I admit it, I suck at running outside.  I have no idea what it is.  But if there was a treadmill 5K, I would be better at it than a regular one.  I attempted to run outside during our past week of beautiful weather and it was horrible.  I am in the process of finding a spinning class or some other type of class I can join.  I know my time  will be limited int he summer with the kids home from school and the Friday Pilates classes are really nothing worth talking about.  So if anyone has any suggestions on places where I can just sign up for a class like 2 or 3 times a week, let me know.  Otherwise I will still continue to run on the treadmill.

Almost April

Is it really almost Easter?  Do I really need to get a move on with the basket stuff?  What do I not like that much about spring?  The rain.  I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have a dog.  Mud is the WORST!  Especially when you have to make sure it is not being tracked into the house on 4 paws.

What am I loving right now?  The new Chelsea Handler book, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang.  It is great!  If anyone is familiar with her or her E! show, I really encourage you to check out one of her 3 books.  So entertaining in a fantastically amusing inappropriate way.  Read it, enjoy.  And I think you will be laughing out loud too.

Did I mention that we are onto Part 2 of The Great DS Search?  How can we lose Bailey’s DS for the second time?  Who knows.  I just know we are going on like 3 weeks of missing it and it is becoming very old, very quick.  I can’t take anymore of the fighting over the 1 DS we have left in the house.  Isn’t there a place I can go and have like a psychic tell me where it is or a prayer to some saint to guide me to finding it?  As you can see I am trying to use all my options…
